Tips to Help Whiten Your Teeth Naturally.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Throughout the day it's inevitable that you'll come into contact with foods and drinks that stain teeth at some point or another. And while that can't really be avoided you can do things after to limit the staining damage they'll cause.

Due to lack of dental hygiene (Brushing, flossing etc) and our diets,we can't keep our teeth completely white and stain free. As human beings, we eat lots of starches, processed foods, coffee and tea, all of which tend to leave stains on the teeth. Over time, these stains become worked into the bone, so even the hardest brushing won't do the trick.

Several different means are adopted to help whiten your teeth naturally.

1. Swish Water in Your Mouth
If you find yourself unable to brush your teeth shortly after drinking coffee or soda, you can limit the staining that will occur by taking a swig of water and swishing it around in your mouth for a few moments. It's important to do this as soon as possible after drinking.
2. Eat Crunchy Foods
Eating some crunchy fruits and vegetables such as apples, celery or carrots can help clean staining tartar and plaque from your teeth.
3. Chew Gum
Similarly to eating crunchy foods, chewing gum after eating and drinking will help clean teeth. Chewing gum will help get in between teeth and gums and remove food particles. Gum should never be a substitute for brushing, but it can give them a fresh feeling when brushing isn't possible.
4. Brush Gently
Brushing thoroughly and brushing hard are two different things. You should brush your teeth well, without damaging your gums or wearing away your enamel.

The cheapest way is brushing with baking soda. There are receipts that add hydrogen peroxide or strawberries to the whitening mix. Strawberries contain sugar and while brushing your teeth should remove sugar from your teeth; this solution coats your teeth with sugar. The risk involved in this method is getting cavities. But there are also risks that accompany the use of baking soda in the whitening process. Regular, frequent use can damage your enamel, causing you to need veneers. It can also result in sensitive teeth and a burning sensation after the treatment.

If you want super white teeth without going to the dentist, you've got to be willing to use the same sorts of products that they use. And the good news is that they are now available for home consumer consumption. Tray and professional grade gel systems are now easily attainable for a fraction of the cost that a dentist will run, and the results as equivalent (if not occasionally better) than you would get by sitting in the chair. (and shelling out a small fortune to boot!)

Prevention is better then cure.In case of teeth whitening prevention is again better method. Make sure not to drink to much coffee, tea, or sweet drink.s It's all right to have these on occasion, but unfortunately many people overdo consumption of these items. This causes harmful plaque to build up. If let untreated, excess plaque can result in tooth decay and gum disease

There are many ways to naturally whiten teeth without causing harm to them. It's important that when you try these techniques you're well informed because you won't have a dentist looking on and telling you what's working or what's healthy. Remember, just because they're called natural teeth whitening techniques doesn't necessarily mean they're good for you.
